When Gus was a Mexican ghost... it was epic

Gus is a museum curator ghost Recently I went through and read my children's books to see what I'd be keeping and what I'd be giving away.  I did a previous blog post about what I found from that read through, here .  But this post today is much lighter and less scandalous.  This post is about Gus the Friendly Ghost.  There were three books and I adored them when I was a kid.   The first, titled Gus the Friendly Ghost, is about Gus living in the attic of a home.  A family resides there through the spring and summer months.  In this story, when the family leaves for autumn, a mouse moves in.  Mouse and Gus have a lot of fun, but Mouse shows jealousy when the family returns and Gus has to mediate and say they all have to get along.  Great story, but rather boring.   I'm guessing things didn't go as smoothly as Gus intended in the mediation, or else him and Mouse have amnesia, because a few years later, Gus and The Baby Ghost shows that Gus and Mouse live

Vintage Fashion Through The Seasons

Back in May, I started a Vintage Fashion Through Seasons series.  I had intended to use a girl and appropriate late 60's fashion/hair for each of the four months.  I stopped after doing Spring and Autumn (which is why they have nice white backgrounds as I was able to use my scanner.  The other photo's sadly are from my camera.)  I started with Brunettes, because that it what I am, but recently, once I picked the series back up, I did Blondes and Red heads.  They all have the same basic seasonal elements.   The Brunettes Spring I decided to go with the whole "April showers being May flowers" thing and have rain as the element.  If I had gone with a non rainy day she would have worn late 60's heels, but as it is, Spring wears boots, and is the only season to carry a prop; the umbrella.  Also a typical A-line mod dress in lime and white.   Summer Summer has bee's, flowers and a spot of grass.  She wears a mod one piece swim suit in

So, I was in the newspaper...

Just a tiny bit thrilled. Two weeks ago, my sister and I were interviewed about our art for the local paper.  Last Thursday we picked up the newspaper at the local coffee house.  We were excited to see it and happy about the experience.  My view on art is that if you create it, it's art.  You don't need to have someone tell you that what you are doing is art, nor do you have to follow any guidelines, just do what you want, even if it's technically wrong.  But I have heard that art is recognized as art once it has a] been deemed so by an art critic, b] had a stint in a gallery, or c] been featured in the media.  I suppose no one can deny I'm an artist now.   Sisters Share Flair Originally, the interview was set up for my sister, which is quite typical.  However, the interviewer chose a large collage piece and some soaps to focus on, but since my sister and I shared in the creative process on those, I had to meet the interviewer.  We met, I wasn't mot

Liebster Blog Award

Yesterday I woke up to the tweet, "I've nominated you for a Liebster award!"  Needless to say, I was intrigued and rather excited; "An award?!  For me?!?!"  Then my thoughts led me to, "Is liebster like liebling?  Surely I can't be her sweetheart/dearest."   Turns out, in a sense, that I can.  While there is no actual award (unless you want to count that picture up there) and no one really knows how it started (the closest I could get was a girl who said she found the earliest mention from a German blogger), the purpose seems to merely be showing love.  Promoting blogs who have fewer than 200 followers (Hello! My 2 followers!) and in essence, nodding towards them some recognition for their work and effort.  Which is basically saying, "I LOVE this blog (who also happens to have few followers)!"  The sentiment is lovely and it helps to get to know your fellow bloggers, since there are questions to be asked/answered.  I have be
